 This year, just like last year, I had the opportunity to visit the Daegu International Fire & Safety Expo, which was held successfully once again.  The event, which saw a record-breaking scale this year, featured 389 exhibitors and 1,397 booths covering an area of 30,000 square meters, an increase from last year’s 378 exhibitors. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Fire Safety Expo has a significant reason for being held in Daegu.  Do you know why?     The battery of electric vehicle is a combination of about 300pieces battery cells, and when one of the pieces catches fire, a ‘thermal runaway phenomenon’ occurs in which the fire spreads to surrounding pieces in succession. the fire will not be extinguished until the battery is completely combusted.     Currently, if an electric vehicle fire accident occurs, the vehicle body must be submerged in a water tank filled with water and wait for the fire to be extinguished.  Just pouring water would take a lot of time and very large amount of water.   Most of the electric vehicle fire cases occur during the charging process, and if an accident occurs in a parking lot inside a building, especially in the basement, it is difficult and time-consuming to place the vehicle in a flood tank, which is highly likely to lead to a 2nd fire and large-scale fire accident.   With significantly increasing EV vehicle, the charging stations in parking lots is als...

  Recently there are lots of fire cases reported from the electric vehicle. The EV fire case is quite different with other vehicle fire, with lithium-ion battery it can be very dangerous. The lithium-ion battery caught on fire, it can give off huge amount of heat and fire and lead to the Thermal runaway which spread the fire cell to cell of the rest of the battery.   The key is to cool down the battery as soon as possible, and the most popular way is to sink down – flooding the battery to water.     Portable extinguishing water tank is one of the new methods to extinguish electric vehicle fires. Potable water tank to inundate the battery and effectively extinguish the fire and prevent the lithium-ion battery explode.
